FAQ

FAQ

Do you shoot on Digital or Film?
I shoot using professional digital cameras which produce the same or better quality than film. Not only is the quality superb but it gives me great flexibility and allows me to shoot in mixed lighting conditions. Some photographers will (incorrectly) advise clients that film is somehow more 'artistic' than digital. Whether a photograph is artistic or not is wholly dependent upon the vision & skill of the photographer and has nothing to do with the image being taken on a film or digital camera. Virtually 100% of the world's press & sports photographers work with digital cameras and have their photographs published in magazines and books across the globe.

How many photographs will you take on the day?
I give 300 as a guideline but there is no limit to the number of photographs I take - I will take as many pictures as there are opportunities. The quantity might depend on the size of your wedding, the location or the weather.

Do we get to keep all the pictures?
Yes - you keep all the photographs as 6x4 preview prints once blinks, duplicates or inappropriate expressions are edited out.

Do you take formal or group shots as well as reportage?
Yes, although I like to make this as relaxed and short as possible to avoid stiff necks or forced smiles. I like to do these calmly and swiftly so that you will quickly be free to enjoy your wedding.

What do you do about eating on the day?
My day is long and requires full & total concentration to get the best possible images throughout the wedding. I ask that where possible a hot meal is provided on the day.

Will we need more than one photographer?
I recommend a 2nd photographer if you have 150 guests or more. Spontaneous and memorable moments can happen simultaneously at different locations. The 2nd photographer can bring another perspective to the story of your day. I can arrange this for a small additional fee.

Who chooses the photos for our book?
You do! It would be presumptuous of me to select your favourites. I am very happy to advise you though if you have trouble deciding, as there are usually so many fabulous images. I recommend an average of 3 images per page to get the best results

How long does it take to make the book?
Once I have received your choice of images for inclusion in the book I design the layout, which is then sent to you as a PDF via email to review and make changes if required. Once the design is finalised it normally takes a further 6 weeks for printing and binding .

How can our wedding guests view or order the photographs?
Your wedding will be hosted in the 'photostore area' on my website. The photographs can then be freely viewed or secured by a password.

How do we book you?
Please complete a booking form and return this with a booking fee deposit of £250 to secure and validate your day. I receive more than one enquiry per date which means I am unable to provisionally hold any date without payment of the booking fee. All dates are booked on a first come first served basis.

How do you work?
My style is relaxed and spontaneous and whatever atmosphere you seek at your wedding I will capture. Prior to your wedding we can meet to discuss your day and help you decide on a photographic timetable so that you have plenty of time to celebrate the day and enjoy the company of your guests. I fit in to work with your agenda ensuring that you are free to enjoy your day to the max.
I do not have a 'one formula fits all' approach and treat every wedding as the unique occasion that it is. I will take as many photographs as there are opportunities - some candid, some classic. I work calmly, quickly and unobtrusively ensuring that your day remains exactly that - yours! I work with professional digital cameras that produce beautifully crisp images, even in low light to capture a definite moment - a stolen kiss, a joke amongst friends, a reaction to a speech, a glance, a touch.
Above all I will provide you with wonderful images that capture the spirit and fun of your day, presented in a storybook that you will want to treasure and show for years to come.
